Whether you’ve been newly introduced to Hawaii fishing charters, or you’re an old pro, we guarantee you’ll have a great experience on our shared and private deep sea fishing charters.
We offer both exclusive private charters of up to 18 people at a time and individual shared charters limited to 4 to 8 anglers per trip, and always make it a priority to increase the chances of every angler catching a fish.
During the shared charter in Kailua-Kona, we focus on targeting smaller game to ensure that every angler gets the chance to make a catch. Most commonly, our anglers catch dolphin fish (mahi mahi), wahoo (ono), skipjack tuna (aku), spearfish and yellowfin tuna (ahi). We rotate your position throughout the trip to give everyone a fair shot.
During our shared charters, we’ve also seen anglers get a lucky surprise when a big marlin bites, so always be prepared! With our experienced trolling and repositioning strategies, chances are good that you’ll bring home something for dinner that night.
To increase the likelihood that every angler gets a good catch, we start out by trolling on the way out of the harbor with a line for every angler. Once we reach a floater, buoy or floating structure, we reduce the number of rods down to two and rotate our anglers so everyone has a great chance of catching a small tuna. On the way back we throw all lines in to troll again. Please note: Trolling means rods sit in the holder until a fish is on, then you handle the rod.
The present boat was built in 1990. It has twin engines, an enclosed restroom, sonar (fish finder), GPS, auto pilot, cellular phone, radio, the finest tackle and your captain and crew.
Our deck and fly bridge are spacious, so even though we take between 4 and 8 anglers on a shared trip, there is still plenty of room for riders to whale watch and take pictures.
Our captains hold United States Coast Guard Masters Licenses and the vessel holds a USCG Certificate of Inspection. You are in safe, professional hands when going for a fishing trip with Sea Wife Charters, aboard the Sea Wife II.
We are a keep your catch boat. All boated fish will be cut up, bagged and shared with everyone onboard who would like to have some regardless of who caught it. This works especially well if not everyone was fortunate enough to catch one of their own. Your crew does this after returning to the dock at no extra charge. Please consider gratuities for your crew as it is customary to tip a charter boat for the days experience whether or not you catch a fish.
