Historical Kona Segway Tour

Location: Kona, Big Island

First you will learn to ride a Segway from our professional guides. Then go on a Segway tour of the coastal area of Kailua-Kona. During this tour we travel glide along the scenic Ali'i Drive of Kona, tour a variety of historic Ancient Hawaiian sites, and then enjoy the beautiful views from the Kailua Pier. This is a great way to experience the beach community and sites of Kona while enjoying the glide of riding a Segway.

What to Expect

Step aboard as your Kailua-Kona Village Segway tour during our "Kona Glide" This tour takes you back in time as you experience one of the most fascinating technologies, personal forms of transportation – the Segway Personal Transporter (PT).

We start with a quick lesson before you and your guide set off on your Big Island Segway adventure. Glide along Kuakini Highway heading to the “Old Kona Airport” – originally built as a WWII landing strip and today is a mile-long State Recreational Park. Here we glide freely through a beautiful botanical garden while taking in the oceanfront activities and enjoying the expansive ocean views.

We then head back to Kona Town and the oceanfront Ali’I Drive – this beautiful scenic byway is known as the “Royal Footsteps Along the Kona Coast.” This Hawaiian byway is home to archaeological sites that have survived over hundreds of years. Here your educated guide will tell stories of the area’s rich Hawaiian history.

We continue on and enjoy a stop at the Kailua Pier to visit the starting and finishing point for the annual world famous Ironman World Championship Triathlon. Our Kona Village Segway tour continues to Ahu’ena Heiau, an ancient temple in the location of King Kamehameha the Great’s personal retreat where he spent the last years of his life.

We glide also past the historic Kona Beach Hotel before visiting the Hulihe’e Palace. This Palace, now a museum, was the vacation residence of Hawaiian royalty. We then stop at Moku’Auikaua Church, the Island’s first Christian Church built in 1820 located across the street from the Palace.

Our Segway tour comes to a close when we glide along Kona Village’s main thoroughfare with all its fun beach shops and activity stops back to our starting point.

Kona Segway Sunset Tour

Enjoy your Segway cruise through the historic sites and ocean views of Kailua-Kona during the beautiful golden hours of the late afternoon. During the last hour of your tour, we will time the ride perfectly so you are riding into the sunset. This is a great way to end a fun day in Kona.
