It's with a heavy heart that we announce the discontinuation of kayak and snorkel rental activities at He’eia State Park, with the last day of operation being this Saturday, March 23rd, 2024

A newly enacted law, Act 232, now prohibits the rental of all recreational ocean-use equipment within 1000 feet of the shoreline of Kane’ohe Bay. Despite a longstanding lease at He’eia State Park and our commitment to eco-friendly recreational activities, the DLNR has informed us that no operator is exempt from this law.

This legislation not only affects the ability to sustain He’eia State Park but also hinders operators from offering the same boating and ocean programs to our community’s youth that we have for years. We are deeply disappointed by this decision and the lack of consideration given to our stewardship of He’eia State Park. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone in our community who has supported us and enjoyed the park and bay over the years. He’eia State Park remains open to the public, and you are welcome to bring your own kayak or board to access the bay.
