Marine Science Guided Snorkel Tour

The "Malama Ke Kai" (Care and Respect for the Ocean) half-day snorkeling tour on Kauai is by far our most popular and complete snorkel tour. Led by highly trained marine biologist and scientific educated guides, this 4.5 hour experience that focuses on education, safety, and of course, fun. Our thorough half-day tour gives guests a much more intimate and personable experience then the crowded boat snorkel tours in Hawaii.

This program includes an interactive power point slide presentation during the summer (or educational fish cards during the winter), top-of-the-line equipment, snorkeling instruction, spectacular snorkeling, a delicious lunch, a fish count and an opportunity to view and purchase photos from the day's tour.

Join one of our trained science educated instructors and guides as they teach you the easy to learn skills that make snorkeling an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Our goal with this complete snorkeling tour is that our guests finish their tour with a more complete understanding of Kauai's unique underwater ecosystem.

Complimentary Gourmet Lunch is Included! Depending on our snorkeling location, it will be provided from either The Beach House Restaurant in Poipu or at The Princeville Resort Restaurant.

What to Expect

We begin our tour with an introduction to the coral reef, species of fish, turtles, eels, and any other marine life you will encounter and the important roles they play in keeping Kauai's reef healthy.

Next, our trained specialist guides will go into detailed instruction on how to properly use the snorkel equipment such as swimming techniques with fins, how to clear the snorkel and mask, etc. Our number one priority is making sure each of our guests has a positive and memorable experience while snorkeling in Kauai along with teaching you snorkeling skills that you can use for the rest of your life.

We then take to the water for 1 hour of snorkeling. Your guide will point out a variety of interesting fish and coral while explaining the nuances of their contribution to the diverse ecosystem.

Finally, we head back to land to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch provided from a local restaurant. During lunch we can discuss the fish and marine life we observed while partaking in a fish count that we will submit to local non-profit organization that uses the data to keep track of the health of the reef.

All gear and snorkeling instruction is included, as is an opportunity to view and purchase photos from the day's tour. Specializing in small group tours, this tour maintains a ratio of no more than 6 guests for each instructor. Your instructor will meet you at the snorkeling location on the South Shore during winter months, or the North Shore during summer months.
