North Shore Deep Sea Fishing Charter

There is no better fishing waters on Oahu then off the legendary North Shore. Your journey ventures out of the harbor into the deep blue in search of marlin, tuna, wahoo, and skipjack, mahi mahi, and other large deep sea fish. Join a half or full day charter along the modern 35ft Pamela Pearl fishing boat with expert Captain Chris Freed.

Capt. Freed and his crew will have you hooked up and fighting the fish of you have always dreamed of. With over 20 years of experience, this charter has helped hundreds of guests create fishing memories that last a lifetime.

What to Expect

Your fishing trip aboard the Pamela Pearl starts with a plan:

1. What’s biting off Haleiwa
2. What kind of fishing you and your group want to do.

We cater to all experience levels. Are you or someone in your group new to fishing? We’ll teach you how! Want to go for the fish of a lifetime? Think of us as your personal coach. We are here to meet or exceed your expectations, and create an experience of a lifetime. We have excellent fishing year round with different species of fish moving in and out of Haleiwa waters.

When deep sea fishing, we target 5 main species of fish: Marlin, Mahimahi, Ono, Yellowfin (ahi), and skipjack tuna (Aku), all of which are very good eating! Our nearshore bottom fishing option lets you target more than a dozen species of fish!

Full Day Charter

Chartering the boat for a full day is for people who want to enjoy the experience to the fullest. On a full day we have access to a wide range of fishing grounds, and can target more species of fish. When the fishing is red hot, we have more time to stay on the fish as well.

We meet our guests for the day between 5:00 am-5:30 am depending on the time of year. Before boarding, we give a briefing, introducing you to the crew, the layout of the boat, and go over our fishing
plan for the day. We also go over safety procedures, and fishing technique with our anglers.

The first stop on our fishing trip is to catch live bait. Every morning before the sun comes up, mackerel (opelu) school up on the surface to feed. We love to load up the bait-well before heading out.

Now it’s time to head out to the grounds! We like to start fishing in an area that has been productive for us, or our friends in the days prior to the trip. We have access to about 6 different FAD buoys maintained by the state that attract fish. We shoot to be back at the harbor at 2:30 pm. Because we are fishermen at heart, so on days when the fishing is red hot, we give you the option to extend the charter.

Half Day Charter

A half day charter is a great option for anglers new to deep sea fishing or groups that want to schedule another activity in their day. We have excellent fishing grounds close to the harbor, and even have time to fish around a FAD buoy! Our motto on a half day is “We have half the time to catch you a full days worth of fish”, so we work extra hard to get you hooked up!

The Fishing Boat

The Pamela Pearl is a 35 ft. Bertram that has been full rebuilt by Capt. Freed in 2018. The boat is 14 ft. wide and spacious. It’s perfect for bigger groups and families. Every detail of the restoration was inspired by the needs of his charter clients Capt. Freed has served over the years, and the unique characteristics of the Haleiwa fishery. The end result is a clean, comfortable boat designed for you to enjoy your day on the water.

The main cabin has a full size couch, and is a great place to relax. We have a private, generous size bathroom that you just won’t find on smaller charter boats. There are also two sleeping bunks if you feel like resting before catching your next fish. There is also space to relax on the back deck on the padded fishbox. There is even seating up on the flybridge, where you can enjoy the view of the ocean next to the Captain.

The Pamela Pearl is equipped with world class fishing equipment: 30-130 class Pen rods and reels, a 60 gallon livewell, and a large assortment of light to heavy tackle!

The Captain

Captain Freed was born and raised on the East side of Oahu. A third generation fisherman, Capt. Freed started fishing with his father and grandfather at the age of 4 off Kaneohe, Oahu. Capt. Freed took the
helm of the family boat at age 16, and has been chasing fish, big waves, and wild adventures all over the Hawaiian islands ever since.

A successful fishing tournament competitor, Capt. Freed has fished and won the Hawaii Kai Shack tournament, placed in the Ahi Fever tournament and the Halloween Shootout tournament in Lahaina, Maui.

After working on several world class charter fishing boats on Oahu, Capt. Freed decided to call Haleiwa his home port. If you have chartered a boat out of Haleiwa in the past 6 years you may have most likely fished with
him aboard multiple fishing boats. The Pamela Pearl is Capt. Freed’s newest adventure!
