What to Expect

Depart from Honokōhau Harbor and cruise along the Kona Coast as daylight fades and the ocean begins to transform after sunset. The ride out builds anticipation as the last colors disappear from the sky and the crew prepares the lights that will soon attract the mantas' food source.

Once anchored, snorkelers gather around a custom lighted float while certified divers descend below with underwater lights. At first, the water feels vast and dark, with only beams of light cutting through the blackness. Then a distant silhouette appears beneath the glow, signaling the start of the encounter.

Before long, manta rays begin sweeping through the illuminated water with effortless grace. Their massive wingspans carry them through clouds of plankton, often passing just feet away as they loop, glide, and barrel roll through the light. Whether you're floating on the surface or watching from below, the experience feels remarkably intimate, less like observing wildlife and more like sharing the water with one of Hawaii's most iconic ocean residents.
