Stand Up Paddle is becoming one of the fastest-growing water sports and these calm water rentals and lessons are for anyone that is interested in trying out this unique hybrid sport that is a cross between surfing and canoe paddling. SUP lessons will cover the fundamentals of balancing, paddling and turning on a stand up paddle board. You may see a turtle or two while paddling over the reef—so keep an eye out!
Come and Stand Up Paddle the pristine waters of the Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park and the Captain Cook Monument. This is the only SUP rental and lesson business at Kealakekua Bay. We have our launch site conveniently located at the Bay, so you just show up, enjoy your day on the water, and then leave your SUP with us when you’re done.
Meet the staff at the boat ramp and they will have your reserved SUP ready for you. You will then be given a brief introduction and safety lesson to the bay to make sure you have the most positive experience possible. After that, you will be assisted into your SUP and launched to enjoy a day of snorkeling in the pristine waters off the Captain Cook Monument.
Whether a lesson or a rental, as you paddle along the calm water you will see that Kealakekua Bay is one of the most historic and beautiful places in Hawaii. At the north end is the Captain Cook monument, with the waters off the monument providing excellent snorkeling conditions and hundreds of fish and aquatic species you will only find in Hawaii, specially the Hawaiian spinner dolphins.
All Kealakekua Bay SUP rentals include a dry bag, backrests, life vests and paddles. Snorkel gear is available for $10 during booking, or bring your own!
