KapohoKine Adventures has implemented the following policies and procedures in order to keep our team and guests as safe as possible. These will be updated as necessary to reflect evolving best practices.
~ Every tour vehicle along with our store are thoroughly sanitized before every tour (or every day in the case of our store) via hospital-grade foggers designed specifically for sensitive medical environments.
~ All tour groups are limited to 10 guests max per full size vehicle.
~ Our team is temperature tested before starting any shift and are immediately sent home with a temperature reading exceeding 100.4.
~ Our team is divided into Alpha and Delta “squads”. These squads do not overlap or work together at any point in order to reduce possible spread, improve contact tracing, and ensure we always have a healthy team ready to operate tours.
~ Each guide is assigned his or her “own” tour vehicle which no other guide will operate in order to reduce spread and improve contact tracing.
~ We promote frequent hand-washing with our team and guests.
~ Our team uses facemasks and gloves when interacting with guests and where appropriate.
~ We promote physical distancing in our store and where appropriate.
~ We use touchless solutions such as digital waivers which guests are required to sign prior to joining any tour.
~ Our updated touchless waiver includes the following questions guests must answer before being allowed to join a tour or board a tour vehicle:
~ Have you or anyone in your family / group exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19? ~ Have you or anyone in your family / group tested positive for COVID-19?
~ Have you or anyone in your family / group been in contact with a COVID-19 patient
within 14 days of tour departure?
~ We have a downloadable flyer on our website for guests which outlines all of our efforts, guidelines, and recommendations.
~ Touch points in our store and tour vehicles are frequently sanitized throughout the day / tour using either alcohol wipes or UVC wanding.
~ Each guest is temporal scanned for temperature before joining any tour. Any guest with a temperature reading exceeding 100.4 is denied boarding.
~ Each guest is issued their own bottle of alcohol-based hand sanitizer in custom bottles to use throughout the tour and to take home.
~ Tour vehicles and our store are equipped with hand sanitizer in addition to the personal bottles issued to every tour guest.
~ Refillable custom keepsake water bottles are issued to each guest for use throughout the tour and to take home.
~ Custom washable facemasks are issued to each guest for required use throughout the tour and to take home.
~ Our signature Hawaiian-style BBQ is plated rather than family-style.
Make Kilauea Volcano and Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park your destination by staying past sunset for a night, volcano explorer tour. This is a fully narrated volcano tour, departing from Kona or Waikoloa/Kohola Resorts.
Travel south into Kona coffee country for the first stop at Bay View Farm, a working 24 acre coffee farm nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano just above beautiful Kealakekua Bay and known for the best Kona coffee since 1984. Here you’ll see coffee growing on the trees and learn about the various steps and processes in making coffee, all of which happen right here on the farm. You’ll sample 100% Kona Coffee at a gorgeous overlook with stunning views of Kealakekua Bay and the monument to Captain Cook standing on the only sliver of British land in the United States.
The adventure continues as you head through the South Kona and Ka’u Districts. Stunning views, alternating between stark lava flows and Hawaiian dry forest, are visible through the huge picture windows of your tour vehicle. We stop briefly at Punalu’u Bake Shop, the southern most bakery in America. Offering the finest time-honored Hawaiian sweetbreads since 1991, the Bake Shop offers an array of breads and cookies.
Shortly thereafter, you’ll arrive at picturesque Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. Lined with swaying coconut palm trees, this is one of the best black sand beaches on the island. Stroll along the beach and look for honu (Green Hawaiian Sea Turtles) feeding just offshore or sun-worshipping on the sand. Picnic-style lunch will be served here weather permitting.
Next travel to the crown jewel of the Big Island, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Visit the Kilauea Visitor’s Center, the Volcano Art Center, and famed Sulphur Banks. Take a hike out to Keanakako’i Crater and step over the sinkholes and cracks in the roads left behind the historic 2018 eruption here, then on to Mauna Ulu. One of the most culturally sensitive locations in the Park you will see a landscape at Mauna Ulu like no other on Earth. Photo ops abound here, and the closer you look the more unusual and striking shapes and fascinating colors you will see.
Take a quick break at Volcano House, welcoming guests such as Mark Twain and Jack London to Kilauea since 1864. Enjoy the views or check out their gift shop.
Then it’s on to the famous Volcano Winery, the southernmost winery in the United States. You’ll sample up to eight different types of wines, varying from sweet to dry, and all with a unique Hawaiian flare. The Volcano Winery also has estate grown teas to taste and soft drinks and water are also included.
After sampling beverages, you’ll enjoy a hearty Hawaiian-style BBQ dinner with a complimentary glass of your choice of Volcano Winery wine or other beverage before returning to your hotel.
