What to Expect

On a beautiful Kona beach, your lesson begins with your instructor covering the fundamentals of surfing, ocean safety, and the Hawaiian tradition of heʻe nalu. After a few dry-land exercises, you'll grab your board and head into the warm Pacific, where the real fun begins.

With your instructor right by your side, every wave becomes a learning opportunity. They'll help you position your board, time your takeoff, and coach you through each attempt, building confidence one wave at a time. Then it happens...the wave lifts beneath you, you pop to your feet, and for a few unforgettable seconds you're surfing in Hawaii. The cheers from your instructor usually come just as fast as the smile across your face.

By the end of the lesson, you'll leave with more than a great photo. You'll have experienced the sport where it began and understand why generations of Hawaiians, and visitors from around the world, continue to fall in love with surfing.
