We also offer flexible pick up times on Sundays and Mondays to allow for Cruise Ship Arrival guests.

Like the idea of going to Hana but do not want an all day excursion? Then come with us on our Halfway to Hana tour. With four to five hours you can still get into the thick of the rainforest, view a couple waterfalls and visit a native Hawaiian community. This route is recommended if you are limited on time.

As your journey begins, we pass the swaying jurassic grasses of Maui’s sugar cane fields. Stories of Maui’s plantation era will bring these giant grass fields to life with rich history. Our first stop is Ho’okipa Beach Park to take in a bird’s eye view of this world class surfing and wind surfing hot spot. Then we will visit the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles basking on the shoreline. Next, the rolling countryside of Huelo gives way to thick bamboo forest. We stop at the vibrantly colored rainbow eucalyptus for some tree hugging before moving deeper into the winding turns of the Road to Hāna. Along this shady curving road, we see streams and waterfalls packed with ferns, moss, fruit trees, birds and bamboo. We may stop for a swim in waterfall pool (depends on strength of flow). Then visit fruit stands for shave ice & Maui’s famous Banana Bread.

The apex of this tour is our visit to the Keanae penninsula. We will drive down to this traditional Hawaiian village known for its taro fields. Tended to by mahi’ai (cultivators) in the same fashion as their Hawaiian ancestors. Visit an original stone missionary church built in 1856; the lone building to survive the devastating tsunami of 1946. End with a drive to Wailua, the village next door, featuring the best waterfall the road has to offer. A grand, three-tiered falls named Waikani. If you wish, we can take a short, adventurous trail to the base of the falls.

The beauty and majesty of nature on this tour is stunning. Yet the depth of the tour comes from the stories and history woven in along the way.

No excursion is more celebrated than the entire road to Hāna which winds 50 miles past taro patches, magnificent seascapes, waterfall pools, botanical gardens, and verdant rain forests, leading to one of Hawaii’s most beautiful tropical paradises’. Featured in National Geographic’s “Drives of a Lifetime”, it’s glorious attractions are well documented. Yet few people know the hidden treasures along the way and even fewer grew up with the rich history and dark secrets of its past. Today, more than 1,000 cars traverse this road each day. Having a knowledgeable tour guide can make all the difference for steering clear of the crowds, catching all the delights and creating a “once in a life time” experience. This tour includes everything mentioned above during the "Taste of Hana" tour and then continues further, all the way to Hana.

We will head to an underground path through an ancient lava flow. With the use of headlamps we observe many interesting features making it a must-see for those interested in caves, geology & Hawaiian mythology. Here, we learn about Pele, the Goddess of Fire, creator of the Hawaiian Islands and a well-known deity often referred to as Ka wahine ʻai honua, “The earth-eating woman”.

Do you believe in dessert before lunch? If yes, then we will park at Coconut Glen’s to fully explore the culinary delights of candy & ice cream made from Maui coconuts.

As we glide closer to Hāna town, we stop at Wai’anapanapa Beach Park. The translation for Wai’anapanapa is “glistening water” or “water flashing rainbow hues”. The name is perfect as the powerful contrast between the black, pebble lava field and the deep blue-greens of the ocean are dazzling. A path leads us to a naturally made lava and powerful blowhole. The cove-shaped black sand beach opens to an ocean cave on the east side that can be traveled through to the ocean. Here we can dip in the ocean, swim through the sea caves or just enjoy the glorious tropical beauty at this world famous Maui beach park.

Next, is the Nahiku Marketplace, a mini-village of tropical delights. This is a great place to enjoy local-style cuisine such as smoked fish, coconut shrimp or baked ‘ulu (breadfruit)–so delicious! Find a variety of locally made gifts, including rare shell and semiprecious stone jewelry, spiritual icons, woodwork, glass art, paintings and more.

Our final destination is Hāna town. An area once favored by the Ali’i (royalty) and the seat of power for the entire island in the 15th Century. Learn about the metamorphis from these native times through the plantation era ending in modern day.

No other tour gives the rich variety of beauty & adventure plus natural & cultural history as our "All the Way Around Hāna Tour". Imagine tracing the base of one the world’s tallest tropical volcanoes in one day. Haleakalā, the “House of the Sun”, forms more than 75% of the island of Maui. This all-day adventure begins from Kahului towards Haiku through sugarcane fields and rolling countryside. Then quickly turns into flourishing tropical rainforest, where rivers, waterfalls and fresh water pools abound. This curvaceous journey takes us along high ocean cliffs to visit lava tubes and black sand beaches as well as sea caves, a blowhole and sometimes native wildlife. We lunch in Hāna town; pork tacos, mahi mahi burgers, coconut ice cream and more.

Beyond Hāna around the “back side” of the island the road becomes narrow and rugged as we climb high onto the shoulder of the mountain. The dripping jungle of Kipahulu gives way to the barren lava fields of Maui’s hidden side; the road less traveled. The leeward part of Haleakalā is exposed; grass and shrubs scattered over jagged lava rock. We see canyon formations where ferocious wind has carved its way into the land. In this area, Maui’s most recent lava flow is still exposed and cinder cones are still in tact. Observe the stark contrast between the wet & dry sides of the volcano.

We take in a stunning bird’s eye view of the surrounding islands and Ahihi Kina`u (La Perouse Bay) formed by the last flows from the southwest rift zone of Haleakalā. We finish the day circling back into Maui’s Upcountry farm and ranch land.

We refresh and celebrate with wine tasting at Tedeschi’s Winery located on a historic royal estate. Then, as the sun sets relax, reflect or nap as we take you down the mountain towards our original starting point. This tour includes everything mentioned above during the "Hana Bound!" tour and then continues further, all the way around Haleakala and back to Kahului.
