Rainforest Zipline on the Road to Hana

Tour Highlights

Fly through Haiku, Maui’s rainforest canopy at full speed, heart racing as cables hum and the jungle drops away beneath you. Every launch hits harder with longer lines, higher platforms, swaying bridges, blind jump rappelling, and pure adrenaline inside the legendary jungles just off the side of the world famous Road to Hana.

  • Glide through rainforest canopy surrounded by native plants and flowers
  • Cross an 85-foot suspension bridge suspended above jungle floor
  • Zip between elevated platforms towering above the trees
  • Learn Hawaiian culture and conservation from certified local guides
  • Choose between 5 or 8-line courses with a rappelling ending

Quick Local Tip: Pay attention during the slower moments. Guides often stop to show reactive ferns that curl when touched and invite you to sample edible flowers or fruit growing right along the course, something most guests don’t expect on a high-speed zipline.

Your experience begins as you arrive at your secluded jungle base camp, tucked just off the Hana Highway in the lush Waipio district of Haiku. Surrounded by dense rainforest, the scent of damp earth and wild ginger fills the air, while the distant sounds of chirping birds and rustling palm fronds immediately set the tone—you’ve officially entered Maui’s green heart.

After checking in, each guest is weighed to ensure safety compliance (strictly between 45 and 250 lbs). You’ll then meet your guides, who are equal parts safety experts, storytellers, and energetic hosts. With enthusiasm and warm aloha, they’ll outfit you with top-quality harnesses and helmets, walk you through a safety orientation, and make sure you feel secure and confident before leaving the ground.

The adventure kicks off with a short walk along a jungle trail to the first launch platform. Towering trees, vibrant ferns, and even glimpses of distant ocean views create a striking backdrop as your pulse starts to rise. The guides double-check every connection before you step off your first platform, and just like that, you're flying.

Each zipline offers a slightly different sensation. Some lines are fast and wide open, giving you panoramic views of the valley, the glimmering ocean, and even Haleakalā on clear days. Others wind through the canopy, with treetop platforms nestled high in native trees. Between runs, you’ll traverse swinging bridges, including an 85-foot-long suspension bridge that gently sways as you cross. On the full 8-line course, there’s even a surprise rappel-style drop—20 feet straight down from a platform—that adds a burst of adrenaline and is often a crowd favorite.

Midway through the longer 8-line tour, the group pauses for a water and granola break on a shaded platform, giving everyone a moment to catch their breath and soak in the surroundings. Throughout the course, the guides keep the energy high, offering encouragement, cracking jokes, sharing knowledge about the flora and history of the area, and making sure everyone—from first-timers to seasoned zipliners—is having a great time.

Back on the ground, the experience continues in unexpected ways. Guests are invited to wander the surrounding tropical park, where the atmosphere is part jungle retreat, part quirky discovery zone. Lifesize dinosaur figures peek out from the greenery, and younger guests can join a scavenger hunt to find them all. Friendly goats and chickens roam the grounds, adding to the playful charm.

The tour ends with a welcome spread of chips, cold drinks, and time to relax and reflect with your group. Whether you’ve just zipped five lines or completed the full eight, the blend of adventure, scenery, and Hawaiian hospitality makes this one of the most rewarding and unforgettable eco tours on the island.
