Quick Local Tip: Wailea Point's dramatic black lava peninsula is surrounded by coral reefs, lava formations, protected coves, and underwater canyons. While most snorkelers only explore a small section, the underwater scooter lets you comfortably cover much more of the reef in a single outing, revealing corners of the coastline that would normally take two or three separate snorkels to reach.
What to Expect
After meeting your guide, you'll receive a quick introduction to the underwater scooter and learn how to safely control its speed, direction, and buoyancy. Most first-time riders get comfortable within minutes, and before long you'll be effortlessly cruising just above the reef.
Once you're in the water, the scooter does the hard work, gently pulling you through Wailea's clear, calm waters while you focus on the marine life around you. Instead of constantly kicking, you'll glide from coral garden to coral garden, covering much more ground than traditional snorkeling while conserving energy for longer underwater exploration.
