What to Expect

Your day begins onboard the Ocean Explorer you'll be greeted with a warm breakfast and Maui coffee. Your seasoned marine naturalist, will brief you on safety protocols and the importance of reef-safe sunscreen, setting the tone for a day dedicated to ocean conservation.

As you cruise towards Molokini, the crew will share fascinating insights about the marine ecosystems you’re about to explore. The first stop is inside the crater of Molokini, known for its incredible visibility that extends up to 150 feet. Here, you’ll encounter a vibrant underwater world teeming with endemic species like yellow tangs, butterflyfish, and perhaps even a Hawaiian monk seal or manta ray. Next, venture to the lesser-seen backside of Molokini, where the ocean floor drops off dramatically. The underwater landscape here is striking, with vertical coral walls and the deep blue of the Pacific stretching endlessly. This site often reveals rare species like the bluefin trevally and pyramid butterflyfish, offering a snorkel experience like no other.

After exploring Molokini, the journey continues to another top snorkel spot, such as the serene waters surrounding Puʻu Olai. This area is a haven for Hawaiian green sea turtles, which can be seen gliding gracefully through the water. The calm conditions here make it an ideal spot for a peaceful swim, with plenty of opportunities to observe these majestic creatures up close (from a safe and legal distance).

Following your underwater adventures, it’s time to relax onboard with a freshly grilled lunch.
