Lahaina Harbor Sunset Catamaran

Location: Lahaina, Maui

Tour Highlights

Slip from Lahaina Harbor into open water as sails rise and the wind carries you across the Au‘au Channel. The coastline softens behind you while the horizon ignites, reflected in long ribbons of gold and violet.

  • Sail the Au‘au Channel with Maui, Lāna‘i, and Moloka‘i views
  • Lounge on forward trampolines above gliding ocean swells
  • Sip island cocktails and sparkling wine from open bar
  • Savor hot and cold appetizers served by attentive crew
  • Spot humpback whales breaching during winter sailings

Quick Local Tip: If you want the quiet sailing moment, watch for when the crew cuts the engines after leaving Lahaina Harbor. Head to the open deck  for the smoothest glide and best chance at spotting marine life without engine noise.

What to Expect

Check-in takes place in Lahaina, where the crew welcomes guests and sets the tone for a smooth, well-paced evening on the water. After boarding one of the company’s sleek sailing catamarans, either the Paragon or ‘Alihilani, you’ll notice the thoughtful layout immediately: wide forward trampolines for lounging, shaded cabin seating for comfort, and unobstructed sightlines in every direction.

As the vessel departs Lahaina Harbor, the shoreline gradually fades and the open channel comes into view. The crew raises the sails and, when conditions allow, cuts the engines, letting the wind take over. The shift is subtle but powerful, replacing engine noise with the quiet rush of ocean breeze and the rhythmic glide of the hull across the water.

Guests are invited to settle in wherever they feel most at ease. Some stretch out on the nets above the water, watching the ocean pass beneath them, while others gather in shaded seating areas with drinks in hand. The crew circulates with a selection of hot and cold appetizers, while the open bar offers everything from sparkling wine and local beers to island-inspired cocktails.

As the sun lowers, the sky begins its transformation. Gold deepens into amber, then into shades of crimson and violet, reflecting across the surface of the Pacific. With views of Maui, Lāna‘i, and Moloka‘i surrounding the vessel, the setting feels expansive and immersive—like being suspended in color.

During whale season (December through March), attention often shifts from sky to sea. Humpback whales are frequently spotted breaching, tail-slapping, or surfacing nearby, adding an unpredictable and unforgettable dimension to the sail.

As twilight settles in, the boat gradually turns back toward Lahaina Harbor. The return journey is calm and unhurried, giving guests time to take in the final glow of the horizon before docking. The experience concludes back at the harbor, leaving a lasting impression of Maui’s coastline seen from its most cinematic vantage point.
