Quick Local Tip: Kalama Beach's gentle waves are created by an offshore reef that softens incoming swells before they reach shore. The result is longer, slower-breaking waves that give beginners extra time to pop up and find their balance. It's one of the reasons it's considered one of South Maui's best places to learn to surf.
What to Expect
Your surf lesson begins at Kalama Beach Park, where you'll be greeted by your friendly, professional instructor. The session kicks off with an important ocean safety briefing, followed by a land-based lesson on the fundamentals of surfing. During this introduction, you'll learn how to balance on the board, proper paddling techniques, and how to “pop up” once you're ready to ride a wave.
Once the basics are covered, it's time to head into the water. The calm, rolling waves of Kalama Beach are perfect for beginners, making it easier to practice your new skills. Your instructor will assist you as you paddle out to the surf break, positioning you correctly to catch your first wave. With their guidance, you’ll feel the rush of standing up on the board for the first time and gliding along the ocean's surface. Throughout the lesson, your instructor will provide hands-on assistance and encouragement, ensuring you have a fun and memorable experience.

Cancellation Policy
Customers will receive refund minus $25 fee outside of the 24 hours notice of cancellation. No refund given for any circumstance within 24hours prior to your lesson. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. No-shows will be charged the full price.
