Cowboy Luau on the Ranch

Journey into the rolling foothills of the mountains for an evening of local cowboy culture, known in Hawaii as Paniolo's.

Visit Hawaii's cowboys on a working cattle ranch where you will enjoy an insightful narration on the history of the Paniolo's, activities for all ages, live country music with line dancing, and a gourmet prime rib dinner on the open air deck overlooking rolling green pastures as the sunsets. We end the evening by roasting marshmallows around the country campfire.

This event is absolute fun for the whole family!

What to Expect

Your afternoon begins being swept away by the beauty of the green pastures of Waimea, Hawaii as you arrive at the 2100-acre Kahua Ranch. After check-in feel free to roam the ranch and enjoy a variety of activities such as playing a game of horseshoes, visiting the cattle, playing bean bag toss, or even practice roping a mock-up steer with a lasso. These activities are geared toward the working environment of a typical Hawai'i ranch.

The bar is open, so enjoy local beverages while you gaze across the vast pasture towards ocean views.

Next, enjoy an educational orientation speech that explains the history and origins of agriculture and ranching in the state and Kahua Ranch in particular. The program is designed to promote agro-tourism and agricultural awareness of Hawaii's farm and ranching communities. Our goal is to provide a fun enriching experience and a to promote a sensitivity and appreciation of agricultural endeavors in Hawai'i.

As the sun touches the horizon, dinner is served! The event hosts a delicious and plentiful BBQ prime-rib dinner buffet with multiple side dishes. Save room dessert!

During this time our live country musical duet performs onstage for your entertainment while you dine. If you are feeling up to it, please join in the fun with some cowboy line dancing. The staff will teach you how!

This is also a great time to stroll out to our observation decking for beautiful photos with the sunset.

After dinner, the fun continues with a sing-along around the campfire. Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa is served. During this time you are encouraged to talk to the cowboys, roast marshmallows, make s'mores, and even try red hot branding of the Kahua Ranch symbol into a wooden shingle to take home as a souvenir.
