Electric Bike Tour to Manoa Falls

Location: Waikiki, Oahu

Tour Highlights

Ride from the buzz of Waikīkī to the rainforest trails of Mānoa on this electric bike and waterfall hike tour. It's a scenic, story-filled adventure that blends city sights, historic neighborhoods, quiet jungle, and the stunning 150-foot Mānoa Falls.

  • Ride pedal-assist e-bikes from Waikīkī into the lush Manoa Valley
  • Climb 390 feet effortlessly toward the Manoa Falls trailhead
  • Hike a 1.7-mile rainforest path to a 150-foot waterfall
  • Explore historic Manoa neighborhoods with unique architecture and valley heritage
  • Visit Lyon Arboretum for native plants, microclimates, and cultural insight

Quick Local Tip: As you ascend into the back of Manoa Valley, keep your rain layer handy. You may not need it but Manoa's shifting weather can bring brief mist that cools the ride and makes the surrounding rainforest even more vibrant, especially near the arboretum entrance.

What to Expect

Your tour begins at 1:00 PM at the Kuhio Beach Hula Mound beneath the iconic banyan tree, where you'll get fitted for your e-bike and helmet. This adventure combines a scenic 10-mile e-bike ride with a 1.7-mile hike, offering the perfect mix of active exploration and immersive storytelling.

After a quick safety briefing, you'll ride out of Waikiki, crossing the Ala Wai Canal, a vital waterway that channels mountain-fed streams from the valley above. As you cruise through Honolulu’s ever-changing landscape, your guide shares rich narration via Bluetooth speaker, covering everything from ancient Hawaiian settlements to modern-day cultural shifts. Expect photo-worthy stops along the way.

Along the route, you'll pass landmarks from President Obama’s childhood, including his first job at Baskin-Robbins and his former school, the historic Punahou, a prestigious private academy founded in 1841.

From here, the tour shifts gears, literally and figuratively as you roll into the cool, green embrace of Mānoa Valley. Here you'll experience a shift in scenery and temperature as the city gives way to rainforest.  You'll park the bikes at Lyon Arboretum, a 200-acre botanical garden bursting with rare and native flora. Then it’s time to stretch your legs on a 1.7-mile roundtrip hike through lush rainforest terrain. As you ascend the forest trail, surrounded by towering bamboo and birdsong, you'll reach the stunning 150-foot cascade of Mānoa Falls, one of Oʻahu’s most iconic natural wonders. The hike offers a true Jurassic Park moment (fun fact: parts of the movie were filmed here).

After soaking in the sights, you’ll coast downhill to Manoa Marketplace for a well-earned, healthy lunch. The final leg winds through the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, offering insight into Hawai‘i’s academic history and its role in shaping local culture.
