The Grass-to-Glass Tour begins at the tasting room check-in counter, where guests are welcomed and, if tasting, can confirm their preferred flight. Your guide leads the group onto the property for a closer look at the heirloom sugarcane garden cultivated specifically for Kō Hana’s agricole rum.
From there, you continue inside the barrel warehouse where you will learn how different wood types influence flavor development; the air is rich with the scent of aging rum, giving this portion of the tour a distinctly atmospheric feel.
The tour concludes at the tasting bar. Adults enjoy a guided tasting of signature Kō Hana expressions, each sample served with notes and suggested pairings. Youth tickets include a gelato cup, allowing younger visitors to enjoy a treat while adults finish their tasting.
Check-in begins at the tasting room, where guests receive a welcome Kō Hana cocktail and a small souvenir notebook and pen. A few minutes of browsing the shop gives you time to settle in before your guide gathers the group for the start of the tour. The first stop is the sugarcane garden. Rows of heirloom varieties growing at the base of the mountains where your guide explains the origins of these native canes and their crucial role in creating Hawaiian agricole rum.
From there, the group moves into the production areas. Stainless-steel tanks, freshly milled cane juice, and the aromas of fermentation fill the space as your guide walks through each stage of the process. During the distillation segment, guests taste fresh sugarcane juice alongside Kō Hana’s Kea white rum to illustrate how flavor transforms from plant to spirit.
The tour continues into the barrel warehouse, a cool, aromatic room lined with aging barrels. Here the guide discusses how wood type and climate shape the character of aged rum while visitors sample Koa (Hawaiian wood-aged) and Kila (cask strength). The experience concludes back at the tasting bar with a final pour of Kokoleka, Kō Hana’s cacao and honey expression, highlighting the natural flavors drawn from the island itself.
