Quick Local Tip: Keep an eye out for the small waterfall chutes along the route, they’re some of the most fun little bursts of the ride. When your tube picks up speed and drops through one, stay loose and go with the flow instead of tensing up; you’ll ride it more smoothly and be less likely to flip.
What to Expect
Head into Kauai’s interior aboard a four-wheel-drive adventure vehicle, traveling across former Lihue Plantation lands far from the island’s developed coastline. Along the way, take in views across mountains, valleys, coastline, and the green landscape surrounding the old plantation while your guide shares more about the island.
At the tubing launch, grab your tube and headlamp and enter the gently flowing irrigation waters. From here, the current does much of the work as you float through open canals, flumes, and a series of tunnels originally engineered and dug by plantation workers more than a century ago.
The tunnels are the defining part of the ride. Headlamps cut through the darkness as you drift beneath the former plantation, then emerge again into the greenery and open canals of Kauai’s backcountry. The same water system once carried mountain water across vast sugarcane fields before sugar production ended at Lihue Plantation.
After tubing, head to a nearby picnic area for lunch and time to cool off in a natural swimming hole—a relaxed finish after exploring one of Kauai’s most unusual pieces of plantation history.

Groups of 2-5 guests = 24 hour cancellation or change policy. Groups of 6-9 guests = 72 hour cancellation or change policy. Groups of 10-14 guests = 1 week cancellation or change policy with a 1 week prepayment paid in full. Groups of 15 or more guests = 2 week cancellation of change policy with a two week prepayment paid in full.
