The Luau Kalamaku is an unforgettable evening filled with a lavish island buffet of local delicacies and an immersive and interactive show. Experience traditional cultural demonstrations before the award winning Hawaiian experience is brought to life by talented local performers, live music and stunning costumery. The theatrical luau at historic Kilohana Plantation features a captivating performance, vivid storytelling, fire poi ball twirlers and traditional fire knife dancing, a delicious buffet of local favorites and so much more!

What to Expect

The evening begins as you stroll through our local craft fair featuring resident artisans. After that, relax to live Hawaiian music while sipping a Mai Tai from the open bar under the canopy of a mango tree and witness the dramatic torch lighting and traditional imu ceremony where a roasted pig is unearthed from an underground oven.

We then gather for an authentic Hawaiian experience under an open-air pavilion. It is now time to dine on delightful local dishes with fresh ingredients sourced from Kauai farms.

After dinner, the theatrical performance unfolds using authentic song and graceful hula dancers. Chronicling the story's ancient hero, Kalamaku, child of the new land, who carries the torch of his family’s future on a dangerous sea voyage from Tahiti to Hawaii. The incredible tale culminates with a breathtaking fire show featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing. In a climactic ending, Pele the fire goddess, her sister Hiiaka, Lohiau, the prince of Kauai, and the fire breathing Moo-dragon women pay homage to Kauai mythology.

Lu’au Kalamaku features a state-of-the-art media system and an interactive stage design which transports you to ancient Polynesia from beginning to end. You will find yourself not merely watching a story– but in the heart of the story itself.
