Quick Local Tip: Between waves, make sure and check out the reef. Publics Beach attracts more tropical fish and turtles than the rest of Waikiki thanks to the coral growth here, turning rest breaks into unexpected sea life encounters.

What to Expect

Meet your instructor at our surf shop inside the Queen Kapiʻolani Hotel, just steps from Waikīkī Beach. After getting fitted with a soft-top surfboard, rash guard, and reef shoes, you'll head to the sand for a beginner-friendly lesson covering ocean safety, paddling, and the fundamentals of standing up on the board.

From there, it's into the gentle waves at Publics, one of Waikīkī's most beginner-friendly surf breaks. Your instructor stays by your side throughout the session, offering hands-on coaching and helping you catch wave after wave while building confidence in the water. Whether it's your first time surfing or you're looking to improve your technique, every lesson is tailored to your experience level.

Group Surf Lessons

Learn alongside a small group in a fun, supportive environment with personalized coaching throughout the session. Group lessons are available for guests ages 14 and older and are ideal for first-time surfers and beginners.

Private & Semi-Private Surf Lessons

Enjoy dedicated instruction with a lesson tailored to your pace and goals. Private lessons are available for all ages and required for children ages 5–14, while semi-private lessons accommodate up to three guests, making them a great option for couples, families, or friends who want a more personalized experience.

Cancellation Policy

As a courtesy for our scheduled surf instructors, please call at least 48 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule our surf experience. Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance will recieve a full refund. Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before the lesson will be charged 50% of the total cost. Cancellations made within 24 hours are non-refundable.
