Shark Cage Diving

Tour Highlights

Dive into the deep off Oahu's North Shore and to stare straight into the eyes of wild sharks as they rise from cobalt water and circle just inches from your snorkel mask—all from the safety of a custom-made floating cage.

  • Cruise offshore from Haleʻiwa into deep, clear North Shore water
  • Enter a stable floating cage with wide plexiglass viewing panels
  • Watch Galapagos and Sandbar sharks glide inches from the window
  • Learn shark behavior and Hawaiian cultural lore from the crew
  • Take in sweeping coastline and Waianae Mountain views on the ride back to the harbor

Quick Local Tip: Every once in a while a tiger shark cruises through the area. They are much larger than the Galapagos and Sandbar sharks, with bold, shadowy stripes along its sides. If the crew calls it out, look for that slow, confident movement; apex predators announce themselves long before you see their markings.

What to Expect

Board the shark boat in Haleʻiwa Harbor and cruise three miles offshore into the deep blue waters of Oʻahu's North Shore, where Galapagos and Sandbar sharks are commonly found. As the coastline fades behind you, your crew shares a safety briefing and prepares you for an unforgettable cage dive.

The floating shark cage is easy to enter and remains at the surface, making the experience accessible for both swimmers and non-swimmers. Equipped with a mask and snorkel, you'll come face-to-face with sharks as they glide effortlessly around the cage, offering an incredible eye-level view of these powerful yet graceful animals.

During your 30-minute cage dive, the crew explains shark behavior, their importance to Hawaii's marine ecosystem, and the cultural significance of sharks in Hawaiian traditions. After your time in the water, climb back aboard for the scenic ride to Haleʻiwa, taking in one last look at the North Shore coastline.
