Roberts Hawaii

Roberts Hawaii has been moving people around the Hawaiian Islands since 1941, when founder Robert Iwamoto Sr. started with a single taxi in Hanapēpē, Kauaʻi. The business expanded into rental cars and motorcoaches before growing beyond Kauaʻi during Hawaiʻi’s tourism boom. More than eight decades later, Roberts Hawaii operates tours and transportation across Oʻahu, Maui, Kauaʻi, and Hawaiʻi Island.

There are some colorful chapters in that history. Roberts provided transportation for Elvis Presley and members of the production during the filming of Blue Hawaii on Kauaʻi in 1961. Even the company’s longtime rabbit symbol has a story: Iwamoto reportedly took inspiration from greyhound racing, where the dogs chase a mechanical rabbit they can never quite catch—a fitting symbol with Greyhound operating as a major mainland transportation company.

Today, Roberts Hawaii is an employee-owned Hawaiʻi company offering sightseeing tours and transportation throughout the islands. From Pearl Harbor on Oʻahu and the Road to Hāna on Maui to Kauaʻi sightseeing and Hawaiʻi Island experiences, the company has grown a long way from that first Hanapēpē taxi while remaining part of Hawaiʻi’s visitor landscape.
