Beach Horseback Ride Tour

Tour Highlights

Saddle up on real North Shore polo ponies and ride just feet from Mokulēʻia’s shoreline, where open countryside, rolling surf, and wide Pacific horizons create a ride that feels both cinematic and deeply personal. With gentle horses and uninterrupted beachfront trails, it’s the rare horseback experience where the ocean becomes part of every step.

  • Ride gentle, trained polo ponies along Mokulēʻia’s true oceanfront trail
  • Follow flat, beginner-friendly paths with sweeping North Shore views
  • Spot honu, dolphins, and seasonal whales just offshore
  • Capture postcard scenery on golden-hour sunset rides
  • Enjoy quieter, countryside vibes far from Waikīkī crowds

Quick Local Tip: The polo fields sit right beside Dillingham Airfield. So if you hear a plane overhead glance up to see skydivers drifting across the sky with bright colorful parachutes, adding a surprising burst of color to your beachfront ride.

What to Expect

Each tour begins at the North Shore Polo Field in Mokulēʻia, tucked away from the crowds of Honolulu and surrounded by open countryside and pristine coastline. Upon arrival, guests check in 30 minutes before the ride time to get fitted with helmets, meet their guide, and get matched with one of the gentle, experienced polo ponies — the same horses that play on the polo field.

After a brief orientation and safety overview, the group sets off on a leisurely ride along the beachfront trail. The terrain is flat and easy to navigate, making it suitable for beginners and enjoyable for experienced riders alike. With the ocean just feet away and the Waianae mountain range rising inland, the ride unfolds like a postcard come to life.

  • On Sunshine Rides, the clear daytime light reveals the full spectrum of North Shore beauty. Riders often spot sea turtles feeding on the shoreline rocks, and in the right season, dolphins or even humpback whales can be seen just offshore. The water is so clear you may glimpse fish or coral formations beneath the surface as you ride along the trail.
  • On Sunset Rides, the experience takes on a dreamy, cinematic quality. The late-afternoon sun casts golden hues across the Pacific, the light dances on the waves, and the temperature begins to cool. It’s a favorite for couples, photographers, and anyone looking to capture that magical end-of-day glow.
  • For those seeking a more personal experience, Private Rides offer all the same scenery and wildlife with added exclusivity. Perfect for couples, families, or small groups, these rides allow you to enjoy the beachfront at your own pace, with extra attention from your guide and plenty of time for photos.

The ride lasts approximately one hour and concludes back at the polo field, where you’ll have a final chance to thank your horse, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before departing.
