Mauka Warriors Luau Dinner Show

Location: West Oahu, Oahu

Tour Highlights

As the sun sets over West Oʻahu, step into an evening where warrior chants, fire-knife dancers, and ancient traditions bring Polynesian history to life. With hands-on activities, authentic food, and powerful storytelling, this lūʻau feels less like a show and more like cultural immersion.

  • Learn hula, weaving, tattoos, and umu cooking during interactive pre-show activities
  • Savor an all-you-can-eat Polynesian buffet featuring kalua pork and local favorites
  • Watch fire-knife dancing, cultural performances, and warrior reenactments
  • Enjoy a traditional lei greeting and warm Polynesian hospitality
  • Experience a show dedicated to honoring the heritage and warriors of the Pacific

Quick Local Tip: When they announce "huaʻi i ka imu" (the unearthing of the underground oven), head over immediately! The crowd forms fast, and the best part (the steam, the aroma, the first lift of the coverings) lasts less than a minute. Arrive early and stand up front so you can actually see and smell the moment most guests only hear about from the back.

What to Expect

You're evening begins upon arrival, where you are greeted with a traditional lei and welcomed by the warmth of our hosts, setting the tone for an evening filled with cultural discovery.

Before the main show, guests are invited to participate in various interactive activities that offer a hands-on experience of Polynesian culture. You might find yourself learning the graceful movements of the hula, receiving a temporary cultural tattoo, or weaving a headband from local plants. For those interested in the culinary arts, there are cooking demonstrations in our outdoor imu kitchen, where you can witness the traditional methods used to prepare our feast.

As the sun sets, you'll enjoy a delicious all-you-can-eat buffet featuring a variety of Polynesian dishes. The aroma of kalua pork, grilled pineapple, and taro rolls fills the air, enhancing the anticipation for the meal. Vegetarian options are available upon request, ensuring everyone can partake in the feast.

Once you've savored the flavors of Polynesia, the main performance begins. The show is a dynamic blend of history and entertainment, featuring fire-knife dancing, cultural dances from across the Pacific, and battle reenactments that honor the forgotten warriors of Polynesia. The storytelling is both educational and moving, connecting you to the deep history and traditions of the islands.

The evening concludes with a final tribute to Polynesia’s rich warrior culture, leaving you with a sense of connection to the land, its people, and their history. As you depart, you’ll carry with you not just memories of an enjoyable evening, but a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Polynesian culture.
