Quick Local Tip: The late afternoon into nightfall is prime time for turtle sightings. After feeding out at sea during the day, turtles move back toward the river to rest. The glow from your board lights up the water beside you, making it surprisingly easy to spot turtles cruising alongside you just inches away.

What to Expect

Your evening begins just before sunset at our private beach launch site on the North Shore of Oahu. You'll meet your guide at our rainbow-colored van in Haleiwa Town near the WWI Memorial and receive a short land-based paddleboarding lesson to get you comfortable and confident on the board. Before heading to the water, your guide will pass out glow stick necklaces for a fun and festive touch that adds to the nighttime vibe and makes the experience even more memorable (and photo-worthy) as you light up the bay together.

Once everyone is ready, you'll head out onto the calm, protected bay. This quiet stretch of coastline is ideal for night paddling, with flat water, minimal boat traffic, and a peaceful backdrop of palm trees and starlit skies.

As the sun dips into the ocean, the sky transforms into a vivid wash of golds, pinks, and deep purples. It's a front-row seat to one of Hawaii’s most beautiful sunsets. Then, as night takes over, we head up the calm Anahulu River where the real magic begins: each board is equipped with underwater LED glow lights that illuminate the ocean floor below. The water lights up in surreal shades of green, blue, or purple, creating a glowing halo around your board.

You’ll paddle over coral reef and sandy bottoms, where you might spot sea turtles or tropical fish passing beneath the lights. The glow lights not only enhance visibility but also add a surreal beauty to the experience, turning your paddle into a moving light show on the water.

Your guide stays close throughout the tour, offering support and ensuring a safe, relaxed experience. Whether you're standing, kneeling, or just cruising along slowly, this tour is about enjoying the atmosphere and soaking in the moment.

After about two hours on the water, you’ll return to shore feeling refreshed, relaxed, and with a completely new perspective on what stand up paddleboarding can be.
