Journey from the calm of Ko Olina to the hallowed grounds of Pearl Harbor, where the wreckage of the USS Arizona rests beneath still waters and the echoes of December 7th are brought to life through powerful stories, historic sites, and moments that stay with you long after the tour ends.
Quick Local Tip: On the USS Arizona Memorial, look for the rainbow sheen on the water. These “black tears” are the ship’s slowly rising oil still leaking since the day of the attack, and catching them in the morning light adds a powerful emotional layer to the visit.
Departing from the Ko Olina resort area, your Salute to Pearl Harbor journey begins with a comfortable, air-conditioned ride along Oʻahu’s scenic southern coast toward Pearl Harbor. Along the way, your expert guide shares insight into the cultural and historical backdrop of Hawaiʻi during the World War II era, setting the stage for a powerful experience ahead.
At the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, you’ll explore immersive museum exhibits, rare wartime artifacts, and compelling multimedia displays that paint a vivid picture of the events leading up to, during, and after the December 7, 1941 attack. Over 2,400 lives were lost that day, a tragedy that propelled the U.S. into World War II.
Next, a Navy-operated shuttle boat takes you across the harbor to the USS Arizona Memorial. Floating above the sunken battleship, this white-marble monument marks the final resting place of hundreds of sailors.
With the Pearl Harbor Remembered Tour upgrade, you’ll continue on to the USS Missouri Battleship, affectionately known as the “Mighty Mo.” Walk its expansive decks and peer into restored rooms as your guide reveals stories of combat missions, sailor life, and the iconic moment when Japan officially surrendered aboard this very ship in 1945, ending the war in the Pacific.
Your return drive includes a guided tour through Historic Downtown Honolulu, with drive-by views of the Iolani Palace, the King Kamehameha statue, and other important civic landmarks that trace the evolution of the islands from monarchy to statehood.
The tour ends with a poignant visit to the Punchbowl Crater, home to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Nestled inside this extinct volcanic tuff cone are thousands of grave markers, each one a solemn tribute to American service members who gave their lives for freedom.
