Quick Local Tip: West Oʻahu’s snorkeling reefs have what are known as turtle cleaning stations. Look for schools of small yellow tang or surgeonfish hovering over pockets in the reef. That’s often where a honu is parked, letting the reef fish clean its shell long before the turtle itself comes into view.

What to Expect

Departing from the Ko Olina Marina, guests are welcomed aboard a 53-foot Gold Coast catamaran, equipped with cushioned seating, a teak bar, and freshwater showers, ideal for a relaxing yet adventurous day at sea. As the boat cruises the calm leeward coast, the captain and crew scan the horizon for pods of Hawaiian spinner dolphins. These agile marine mammals often swim alongside the catamaran, leaping and spinning in playful displays. In winter months, guests may also witness the awe-inspiring breach of North Pacific humpback whales as they migrate through Hawaiian waters.

The snorkeling portion of the tour takes place at one of several west Oahu reef sites, selected by the captain for optimal conditions that day. Beneath the surface, snorkelers discover coral reefs teeming with tropical fish and vibrant sea life. One highlight: natural turtle cleaning stations, where Hawaiian green sea turtles glide in for gentle cleaning by algae-eating reef fish.

After exploring the underwater world, guests return to the catamaran for a Hawaiian-style lunch. Deli sandwiches, fresh fruit, chips, and soft drinks are served on deck, along with up to three complimentary alcoholic beverages per adult. Morning sailings include muffins and hot cocoa or tea; midday trips offer snack packs and bottled water. With gentle ocean breezes, panoramic views of Oahu’s rugged coastline, and a laid-back onboard atmosphere, the return sail rounds out an exceptional ocean experience.
